Hi. This is . I hate internet fraud. I was the victim of it myself last summer, and since then I've been dedicated to exposing frauds whenever I see them. Things like fake internet deaths, fake internet comas, fake internet cancer, and fake internet dying relatives. These things all suck greatly, for reasons I'll explain in the journal.
I've set up this journal to talk about internet frauds I've personally witnessed in a lot more detail than I can in my personal journal. All frauds detailed here will be things that have already happened, and identifying information will be filed off to protect the privacy of my informers. The idea of this journal is to provide information and examples for the online community to learn from - to warn you to be suspicious, and check all the details.
I'd like to hope that it's a journal I'll never have to update - I'll stick the stories out here in cyberspace and that's the end of it, but recent events seem to be proving otherwise. I swear the fake internet deaths are getting closer and closer together :/
Also, I don't want to set myself up as the great arbiter of whether something is true or not. I don't want the internet fakers to look out for me, and say "if we manage to fool , we must be good". I'd like it if people in general were sceptical enough to do the job for me, and check up on their "friends" when they make outrageous claims. A genuine friend will give you the name of the hospital or vet in question. A faker will direct things via some vague PayPal account...
